This attractive design and build project comprised the demolition of the existing buildings and the erection of 4 high specification distribution warehouses and industrial buildings totalling 37,500ft2. Due to poor ground conditions, the foundations were vibro-compacted prior to erecting steel frame structures with 8m high eaves and a profiled ‘built up’ CA system together with double glazed powder coated windows.
The scheme was constructed to a very high standard and the buildings were required to attain BREEAM ‘Excellent’. Sustainable features such as solar thermal water heating, photovoltaic cells and rainwater harvesting were included and each unit has a power floated concrete floor with offices built on a mezzanine. Motorized folding doors were also installed and the units have the benefit of a generous yard and parking provision.
The 36 week project was constructed to a very demanding programme and was completed on time and budget.
