A&E Phase 2, Hillingdon

After relocating the facilities of the existing Urgent Care Clinic (UCC), this area was then transformed to expand the A&E Department. A superb finish was achieved within a live emergency environment.

Close liaison with the hospital staff was critical for managing the installation of mechanical plant, which had to be crane lifted onto the roof, and careful planning was required whilst 1 half of the A&E access ramp was closed on a Saturday morning.

This phase has provided the department with a new nurse base, a mental health room with anti-ligature features, separate clean/dirty utility rooms and 7 examination rooms – 4 curtained cubicles and 3 treatment rooms (2 with ensuites).

Finishes were all completed to the latest HMO standards, with BioClad wall coverings, Sterishield paint and hygienic ceiling panels. Special bedheads provide lighting, suction and medical gases, with hygienically sealed doors installed incorporating vision panels with internal privacy blinds. Lighting sensors were also installed throughout, designed to respond to changes in external light conditions.
