St Mary's School, Gerrards Cross

This project, the first for St Mary’s School, involved the demolition of an existing classroom block and construction of a new 2 storey 6th Form Study Centre incorporating ICT suites, seminar & study rooms, a common room and toilet facilities.

The new structure comprised of concrete pad and strip foundations, supporting a structural steel frame bearing the precast concrete floor slabs, internal concrete staircase and profiled metal roof deck together with a ground floor block and beam suspended floor slab.

The building envelope was finished externally in a combination of facing brickwork, curtain walling, timber cladding and a through colour render system. The external walls were insulated with a profiled metal roof deck with the Parapet walls finished with an aluminium coping system with thermally broken aluminium windows, doors and a curtain wall system.

All existing gas and water mains were extended to serve the building. A new electrical supply was run from the existing substation at the school entrance into the switch room on the ground floor to serve power and lighting throughout the building.
