Disraeli School & Children's Centre, High Wycombe

This project involved the expansion of a 500 place 2FE school into a 750 place 3FE community primary school. The contract was undertaken while the school continued to function, and entailed the construction of 1 and 2 storey extensions to Key Stage 1&2 classrooms and nursery, together with major refurbishment of the existing school amenities. The new buildings were constructed using traditional brick and block or composite panels and pitched slated roofs to match the existing structures.

Phase 1 – This was the largest phase and involved building a new 2 storey block to provide classrooms, cloakrooms, disabled lift, WCs, dance studio, conference rooms and additional external seating areas. In the existing main reception block, alterations and improvements were made to the head teacher’s room, staff room/kitchen area and the existing toilets were converted into a hot desking room.

Phase 2 – Repositioning of external services, the soft play area and stores which was completed over the summer.

Phase 3 – New reception area and nursery with toilets and shower facilities, classroom alterations and refurbishment of the junctions between the existing buildings/infills and the new canopy area.

Phase 4 – New cloakrooms and group rooms (smaller classrooms), improvements to existing classroom infills and rainbow room, extension to sports hall and 2 new externally accessible toilets.
