Mark joined Jarvis Contracting in 2014, since then he has modernised the way the business operates, whilst expanding both its client base and operational area. Under his leadership, our approach has become far more customer-centric, whilst we have also launched a number of staff-led initiatives to enhance the way we work.

What do you enjoy about your role?
I am really fortunate to head up an amazing group of people, in what is a pretty special business

What's been your biggest achievement since joining Jarvis?
Aside from seeing the progression that the business has made over more recent times, I think winning a National Contractor of the year award was an early milestone in our journey.

What's an average day like in your role?
Manic! Every day is different and I like to think I touch every part of the business on a regular basis, shifting my focus as the business needs it whilst also setting the forward trajectory, which has certainly been interesting over the past couple of years.

What skillset do you need to support your role?
This is a people business and the importance of understanding, motivating and supporting people in different ways is a key aspect of the business’ performance.

Why did you decide to follow this career path?
I didn’t. Construction is such an exciting industry, filled with so much opportunity that I was lucky that my career path developed over time.

What’s the best thing about working at Jarvis?
What, apart from working with a great CEO – I’d like to think that this is an environment where talent can genuinely develop and flourish and I feel a responsibility to make this the best place to work that we reasonably can.

Outside of work, what are your hobbies?
My role is pretty all-consuming and in truth, I have little time for hobbies as such but I have an amazing family and a pretty wide group of friends, so life is never dull.
