This new residential development provides 24 apartments – 12no, 1 bedroom and 12no, 2 bedroom (all with lift access), which are available for rent to applicants on the Housing Register over the age of 55.
Existing run-down sheltered housing was demolished prior to the new 3 storey facility being built. The external elevations are a mix of brickwork, render and curtain walling, providing a contemporary finish, with sedum green roofs applied to both the main building, and the external bin, cycle and scooter store.
This project had its challenges, not only due to its location to nearby schools, but from the start, we had to work closely with the client to overcome issues with land contamination and a partial land transfer from the highway authority.
When the coronavirus pandemic emerged at the start of 2020, the decision was made to close all of our sites. We then responded by trialling a couple of schemes to test our COVID-19 Operating Procedures - the Warner House project was at the forefront and became an exemplar site, reopening just over 3 weeks later, they set and maintained the standard for our ‘new normal’.
