This phased project consolidated the facilities from another location, bringing them in-house and involved the construction of a 3 tier mezzanine structure inside an existing warehouse to provide a hanging garment facility. With a footprint of 7,920m2 (144x55m), the fit-out covered a total floor area of 31,680m2. The existing space was stripped out with the removal of suspended lighting, zoned sprinkler system and racking - some of which was reinstalled close to the new installation.
New mezzanine columns were set on floating base plates over expansion joints on a grid system, with access to the floors via 3 stair cases. 4 goods-in booms were set up to transfer clothing from the lorries into the cassette area, before passing onto the (HF250) ski-lift for storage prior to packing and final store delivery. New fire exits were made in the external envelope and we also installed new bases outside for the AHU’s.There was an extensive M&E package which included new PA system, PIR and emergency lighting, and fire sensor systems; there was a new sprinkler system to each floor with baffles over the rails on the top floor and new valve sets installed. A new main power supply into the unit required careful programming to allow for installation and 2 separate ventilation systems were installed - 1 at each end with individual AHU’s.
