Jarvis Contracting

An experienced professional with a minimum of 10 years industry experience who has demonstrated performance that exceeds the requirements expected of a Quantity Surveyor.

Role Responsibilities

  • Site Measurement and measurement from drawings
  • Preparing cost plans for speculative development schemes and Client schemes to assess financial viability.
  • Preparing strategies for achieving exceptional profitability on our construction projects that do not denigrate the quality or client relationships.
  • Completion and agreement of monthly interim valuations with the Employer’s appointed representative.
  • Preparation and agreement of the Final Account with the Employer’s appointed representative.
  • Assisting the Site Manager with record keeping including producing allocation sheets with sufficient detail to enable variations to be identified and contra charges to be recorded where appropriate.
  • Managing all Commercial and Contractual issues pre and post contract on multiple Major Works projects ranging in value £1m to £20m.
  • Review and produce considered appraisals of Tender conditions for projects that Jarvis Contracting is tendering, reviewing these with the Commercial Director and negotiating risk managed terms with the Employer’s appointed representative
  • Preparing cost plans for speculative development schemes and Client schemes to assess financial viability.
  • Preparing strategies for achieving exceptional profitability on our construction projects that do not denigrate the quality or client relationships.
  • Commercial management of a number of sub-contractor accounts including agreeing final accounts, identifying change and variations to enable recovery through the Main Contract of additional costs incurred.
  • Pricing variations and scope changes and agreeing these with the Employer’s appointed professional representative.
  • Having a working knowledge of relevant Sub-Contractor and Main Contract contractual matters relevant to the works being managed.
  • Completing Cost and Value reconciliation reports for each project and submitting to the Commercial Director on a monthly basis.
  • Placing all Sub-Contractor and Supplier Orders including providing a detailed analysis of the tender returns for each trade and discussing the best alternative with the Commercial Director prior to executing the Sub-Contractor.
  • Complete responsibility for all sub-contract commercial and contractual management.
  • Commercial Management of any Director labour resources.
  • Preparation and submission of delay notices and loss and expenses claims forms.
  • Attend Marketing events as and when necessary and promote the Jarvis brand when meeting Clients, Consultants and Sub-Contractors.
  • Fulfilling administration duties including recording progress, taking photographic records, keeping a site diary and paperwork filing.
  • Placing Sub-Contractor orders including completing analysis of tenders and producing a summary of compliance and qualifications raised during the tender process
